Samantha Mushin has directed two productions for VOICES Boston. She talked about introducing CCTheater to the organization, and how using it was easy and improved her audience's experience.
"CCTheater was recommended to us by a colleague who couldn't stop raving about AccessTech. We were producing an opera and had no technical means to provide supertitles. Supertitles are common in opera productions - opera is often performed in another language - but even when performed in English, it can still be difficult to understand what performers are singing because of the music style. CCTheatre allowed us to provide captions and solve this problem.
CCTheater is an accessible way to achieve more accessibility. The controller's ability to see what line comes next is very helpful. This allows the controller to press forward to the rhythm of the production rather than clicking through blindly.
I had patrons come up to me after the show to share how much they loved the captions. One audience member approached me to share that her mother was hard of hearing, and the closed captions allowed her to truly enjoy the story that her granddaughter was a lead performer in, which was priceless to her.
